The individuals we typically collaborate with include (although the following list is not exhaustive):
Business owners: We provide tailored financial planning to help you prepare for the future of your company and your family's needs, ensuring you can achieve both your business and personal aspirations.
Company directors: Our advice focuses on integrating tax-efficient, comprehensive financial planning into your business operations and everyday life, setting you up for a comfortable retirement.
Senior executives: We assist you in navigating the complex financial implications associated with being a high earner, addressing both your current financial situation and your retirement planning for a fulfilling lifestyle down the line.
Although Ben is based near Manchester, he serves clients across the country and is available for meetings either in person or online.
All of our financial planning incorporates cashflow modelling, which is essential for effective planning. This approach helps you visualize how even small changes in your finances can significantly impact your future. We also provide investment advice and regularly review these models to ensure you stay on track to meet your goals, making adjustments when necessary.
In financial planning, it's essential to first protect the assets you already have. Financial protection is often a low-cost way to ensure that you and your family are safeguarded, should the worst happen. Incorporating sound investment advice and considering retirement planning are key components of a comprehensive financial strategy.
Whether you’re just starting your retirement planning or have several existing pension plans that needs reviewing, we’re here to assist with your financial planning. Pensions provide an excellent, tax-efficient way to save for the future. Our advice covers both private and company pensions, while also considering any guaranteed benefits from a final salary pension.
Deciding when to retire is one of the most important (and challenging) decisions you’ll ever make. For many, relying solely on the State Pension isn’t enough to ensure a comfortable retirement. Effective retirement planning is essential, as it helps you understand how much you’ll need in retirement and the achievability/sustainability of this. By seeking advice and assessing your current pensions, investments, and savings (plus additional factors) you can determine how they will contribute to your financial planning and help you meet your retirement goals.
Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) are a tax-efficient way to save for the future, but for high earners, the annual allowance can be quickly used up. We offer comprehensive financial planning and can provide investment advice on various types of investments, including General Investment Accounts (GIAs), savings accounts, and both offshore and onshore bonds, all of which can be essential as part of a holistic and truly effective financial plan.
Whether you have a potential Inheritance Tax liability or your earnings place you in the additional rate tax bracket, we can assist with financial planning strategies that mitigate some or all of this. Our investment advice emphasizes that tax-efficient plans do not need to be complex or overly risky, making them suitable for your retirement planning needs.
It’s never too soon to start financial planning for your children’s future. Junior ISAs and pensions provide excellent investment advice for setting them up for success, while also allowing parents and grandparents to pass on wealth in a tax-efficient manner, supporting effective retirement planning.
It’s important that you know what to expect when you first approach us for financial planning advice. We follow a 7-step process for all our clients to ensure that their objectives are met and they receive the best possible service. We understand that starting this journey can be daunting, but there’s really no need to worry. We operate with kindness and warmth, treating you how we would want to be treated.
We are happy to get to know you and understand your retirement planning goals, and then outline how we can help and add value with our investment advice - all at our cost and without obligation, initially.
While it is hard to put a timescale on how long this should take due to factors beyond our control, we aim to complete the initial three steps in the financial planning process in around 6-8 weeks.
This step focuses on understanding your goals related to financial planning and establishing the foundation of our partnership. We will call you for a brief conversation to discuss what you are hoping to achieve, including any specific needs for investment advice or retirement planning, and explain what we are able to offer. At this stage, we would also clarify any potential fees and charges.
If you decide to proceed to the next step in your financial planning journey, we will schedule a face-to-face or online meeting, based on your preference. To prepare for this meeting, we will send you a link to our secure online portal where you can provide us with essential information, such as income, assets, liabilities, and relevant plans and policies related to your investment advice and retirement planning.
Most importantly, we want to understand your goals and objectives. This enables us to dedicate as much time as possible during the meeting to comprehensively understand you and your needs, rather than spending that time gathering basic facts.
After the discovery meeting, we gather any further information required about your plans and begin working on a financial plan that aligns with your needs. This plan will include essential aspects of retirement planning and investment advice tailored to your goals. We will then report back to you with our initial ideas. If you are happy to proceed, we formally engage with you and start developing a comprehensive proposal.
Once we have fully completed your financial planning, we will meet again to thoroughly explain the details with you. We will go through the financial plan in detail, describing what we aim to achieve in terms of investment advice and retirement planning, while gathering your feedback to ensure you are completely satisfied and fully understand our proposals. If there is anything you are unsure about or need further guidance on, we will be happy to explain before proceeding.
Once we have agreed on the best way to proceed with your financial planning, we will send you a final recommendation report. We will always give you time to read this through and come back to us with any questions regarding the investment advice provided.
Once you are satisfied and ready to move forward with your retirement planning, you will give us permission to complete all necessary steps to meet your needs.
We will keep you informed regularly throughout this part of the process, so you know what to expect and when.
Once all steps in your financial planning are complete, we wait 30 days before checking in on you. We want to ensure that everything related to your investment advice and retirement planning has gone smoothly and that any questions you have are answered.
We’ll regularly check in with you to review your financial planning strategy at least once a year. Of course, we are available in the meantime to provide investment advice and answer any questions you may have. Additionally, review meetings can be scheduled sooner if there are significant changes in your life that necessitate adjustments to your retirement planning.

Jonathan began his financial planning career at Aviva in Norwich, where he dedicated six years to various roles in pensions. After a brief period at a local financial adviser, he transitioned to Harrold Financial Planning (HFP), now part of the Shackleton Group. There, he advanced from a paraplanner to Operations Manager, eventually becoming Operations Director before joining Ben.
As an expert in process optimization, Jonathan leverages technology to enhance the service quality for clients, particularly in areas like retirement planning. Her days are dedicated to ensuring that all important administrative requirements are expertly taken care of.

Jon now supports Ben in the running of a succesful IFA practice, offering valued counsel and strategic direction where required. Jon specialised in Inheritance Tax Planning during his career.
In his spare time, he enjoys holidays in the sunshine, keeping fit (gym work and cycling) and he is a keen golf and cricket fan.
